Out with the Old…In with the NEW!

About 4 years ago, Texas got cold… like super cold. Power grid went down, and this house was COLD. Our single pane windows did all they could do, but this house was so cold on the inside – ICE was on the INSIDE of our windows! It was crazy…

Well, during that time, our pipes busted and that is when we lost our Master Bathroom. I never really liked the bathroom anyway – it was pink, and had what I thought was a hidous pink claw foot tub, and fiberglass shower. It wasn’t until it was gone though that I missed it…..

BUT – 4 years later, we have finally decided that enough is enough and we are ready to stop sharing a single bathroom with our kiddos!

We started the demo –

After many deep discussions, my husband and I discussed taking out the door connecting the bedroom to the bathroom. My thought was it would make it feel like a “Master Suite/Retreat”… and it really did just that!!! Also, my husband and I are huge natural stone fans- so a stone veneer wall was an absolute MUST.

We are currently still working on the many details to complete this bathroom – but so far this project has exceeded ALL expectations. I find myself walking in there in awe thinking, “How the heck is this MY bathroom!?” … even though our mirrors are still wrapped in Reynolds Saran Wrap, and my normal bathroom items are put in any and every nook and cranny throughout the house until the project is complete. I think the feeling of gratitude is something I missed the first part of my life, that I am very much realizing this go around.

Even though this bathroom is not complete just yet – I just love to look at these photos… Here is the progress so far…

Real Limestone Floors were a must. Love the warmth they provide (in regards to color) and believe it or not – its so soft on your feet!

Now, that Natural Stone Wall… you ready?

In the next week or so, we will install stone baseboards, tackle the open shelving/linen closet, master closet, and then the big one… the SHOWER! Excited and grateful for all the wonderful progress – out with the old and in the with NEW!!!
